Mushrooming Leveling and Unlocks

Checked

XP comes from rarity, not from the number of mushrooms you pick: a Common gives 6 XP and a Legendary gives 230, so a better knife levels you faster than a faster route.

What opens at each level

Whisperwood locks its high-tier regions, late story chains, and master gear behind level gates. Clearing bridge tolls or buying equipment only takes you so far; certain paths stay closed until your character level meets the threshold.

Five milestone levels reshape your foraging options:

Level What opens Where to find it
Level 20 The road up Azure Peak Mountain trail above Pinewood Ridge, leading to high-altitude cold caps
Level 40 The Gravekeeper's quests Ambrose Vell standing near The Quiet Acre
Level 45 Gloamwood The Mourners' Cut gate past The Quiet Acre
Level 60 The Rootways, down the well in Fernhollow The old well bucket on the Fernhollow Village square
Level 70 Take up the ??? (Who Keeps the Light) The Founders' Hall deep inside Gloamwood

Reaching level 20 lets you ascend Azure Peak to gather species like Skybell and Azure Glowcap. Level 40 begins Ambrose Vell's barrow preparations, which lead straight into the level 45 Gloamwood gate. Level 60 grants access to the bucket down into the Wellspring, opening the subterranean Rootways where Celestial and Ancestral species grow. Finally, level 70 allows you to claim the endgame objective in Gloamwood.

The XP table from 1 to 85

The level curve in Mushrooming scales progressively. Early levels pass quickly: jumping from level 1 to 2 takes 45 XP, which takes fewer than ten Common mushrooms. By level 40, each level requires over 5,000 XP. By level 60, single levels demand more than 15,000 XP, and reaching the cap at level 85 requires a total of 1,181,384 XP.

The table below lists every level step from 1 to 85, showing the exact XP required for each step and cumulative XP from the start.

Where XP actually comes from

Every mushroom in Mushrooming awards a fixed amount of XP upon harvest. That value depends entirely on the species rarity tier, not its size, weight, or dirt condition.

Rarity XP per harvest Knife required Kinds in game
Common 6 XP Rusty Knife or better 30 kinds
Uncommon 14 XP Rusty Knife or better 38 kinds
Rare 34 XP Pocket Knife or better 37 kinds
Epic 85 XP Bone Knife or better 29 kinds
Legendary 230 XP Mycologist's Scalpel or better 26 kinds
Mythic 620 XP Moonsilver Blade or better 13 kinds
Secret 2,100 XP Sporebloom Knife or better 8 kinds
Celestial 3,600 XP Willowglass Knife or better 6 kinds
Ancestral 6,000 XP A blade nobody sells 2 kinds

Three additional factors modify your XP intake:

  1. Mutations grant a 50% bonus. Any mushroom that spawns with a mutation (such as Luminous, Golden, or Frosted) awards 1.5x its base XP. A mutated Mythic yields 930 XP instead of 620 XP.
  2. Quests and wanted boards. Completing villager quests awards lump sums ranging from 40 XP in the early village story to 16,000 XP for late-game Gloamwood objectives. Villager wanted orders also reward direct XP upon turn-in.
  3. The day and night cycle. Whisperwood operates on a 16-minute day cycle consisting of 11 minutes of daylight and 5 minutes of night. Nighttime triggers spawns of bioluminescent species and rare night-only varieties like Foxfire, Ghost Fungus, and Frostcap. Because night species sit in higher rarity brackets, focused foraging during the 5-minute night window generates significantly more XP per minute than daylight gathering.

Boosts that double your XP

XP multipliers cut down the time required to climb the level ladder. Multipliers apply to all harvested mushrooms, quest completions, and order payouts.

The game does not use Roblox Game Passes or platform badges. All purchasable boosts in Mushrooming are Developer Products or active promo codes available directly in-game.

Boost Source Duration / Cost How it works
FOUNDERS code Promo Code 15 minutes (Free) Doubles XP from mushrooms, orders, and quests. Redeemed via the codes menu.
MUSHROOMING code Promo Code 5 minutes (Free) Doubles all earned XP for 5 minutes.
Sage Tonic Shop / Peddler 10 minutes (39 R$) Developer product tonic stored in your inventory. Drink whenever you start a run.
Double XP Shop Permanent (299 R$) Permanent developer product that doubles all XP gains across the account.

Check /codes for newly released promotional codes before planning an extended session. To make the most of a temporary 2x XP boost, prepare an empty pack from /gear and patrol high-density zones like The Undergrove or Gloamwood mapped out on /map.
